New Equipment!

I was looking to find a better lens that would allow to take better portraits. I wanted to get the best bang for my buck. As most know, photography isn't a cheap hobby. It has become more affordable over the years, but that doesn't mean anything if you aren't making much. I did a lot of research to find what would be the best investment for me. I finally found the one I wanted, but I wanted it on sale; I was willing to wait.

I purchased my first lens on Monday this week, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 prime lens. I picked this lens up for just $200 and I couldn't be happier! I took this lens with me on my portrait session with Alice, we wanted to try something a little different and went to Prescott Gardens Park in Portsmouth NH. We also took a small strand of tiny sting lights to see what we could do.

Shooting with the lights at such a low f-stop gave me an orb affect that looks amazing! Having such the large aperture size allows for more blur around the focus area that gives a much better depth of field. Being able to capture the photos that I imagined makes me happy, I think that this lens is amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a Sony A and is looking for a low cost lens.
